CLAUDE DEBUSSY – The Annotated Danses sacrée et profane
CLAUDE DEBUSSY (1862 - 1918) In this new engraving, the first since Renie's transcription in 1910, the whole piece is presented the way modern harpists expect to see it. It contains all the pedals, pedal diagrams, the most playable and dependable version of the famous pedal nightmare, extensive footnotes, and an explanation of how Debussy wanted the first page played, as described by an eyewitness.
Listen to a sample and follow along…
“I am so happy with your Debussy editions. I use them now all the time with my students. Such great work you did!”
“Your edition of the Danses is so useful. Your observations on the opening sacrée chords are absolutely ‘on the nail’ on how they should be played.”
For the first time:
ALL the pedals are written in, in letters large enough to easily see.
Four systems per page instead of the usual five, leaving much more room to write.
A new version of the pedal nightmare in the second Danse that is the safest and most playable version available.
Text explaining the early history of the Danses, as well as detailed explanation of how the first page should be played, provided by Pierre Jamet, who coached the Danses with Debussy himself.
